On image quality enhancement in Photoacoustic image reconstruction by motion compensation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Photoacoustic (PA) imaging is a relatively new noninvasive medical imaging modality. It is a technique which is harmless for the human body and uses pulsed optical energy. The process is based on the absorption of the pulse of optical energy by an object leading to local temperature increases. This temperature distribution leads to the generation of pressure waves, which in term can be measured outside of the object. The measured acoustical signals at the boundary of the object can be used to reconstruct the original energy absorption distribution. Reconstruction of the absorption distribution involves back projecting of the ultrasound measurements in some spatial map. Unexpected movements of the object can distort this reconstruction and result in blurred images. The aim of this work is to research a technique that corrects for these unexpected and a priori unknown movements. The approach is based on tracking known landmarks in the received signal. By assuming rigidness of the object under consideration, the tracking of landmarks in the PA signal can be used to estimate small translations of the object during the signal acquisition. متن کاملCollimator-detector response compensation in molecular SPECT reconstruction using STIR framework
Introduction:It is well-recognized that collimator-detector response (CDR) is the main image blurring factor in SPECT. In this research, we compensated the images for CDR in molecular SPECT by using STIR reconstruction framework. Methods: To assess resolution recovery capability of the STIR, a phantom containing five point sources along with a micro Derenzo p...

Background: The present study aims to assess the impact of various image reconstruction methods in 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging on the quantification performance of the proposed technique for joint compensation of respiratory motion and partial volume effects (PVEs) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer. Materials and Methods: An image-based deconvolution technique was proposed, incorporating w...
متن کاملA Novel Compressed Sensing Scheme for Photoacoustic Tomography
Speeding up the data acquisition is one of the central aims to advance tomographic imaging. On the one hand, this reduces motion artifacts due to undesired movements, and on the other hand this decreases the examination time for the patient. In this article, we propose a new scheme for speeding up the data collection process in photoacoustic tomography. Our proposal is based on compressed sensi...
متن کاملAdvanced Motion Correction Methods in PET
With the arrival of increasingly higher resolution PET systems, small amounts of motion can cause significant blurring in the images, compared to the intrinsic resolutions of the scanners. In this work, we have reviewed advanced correction methods for the three cases of (i) unwanted patient motion, as well as motions due to (ii) cardiac and (iii) respiratory cycles. For the first type of ...
